My-Bella

My-Bella's stories were the first I read on ff and I have to say they are amazing. She is one of the best authors on the whole site and if you haven't read her stories, then I cannot recogmend more going to check out her page. But just before you do that, read her interview...

1. Tell us your thoughts and feeling on Breaking Dawn and the movie.
Breaking Dawn...I'm still on the fence with BD, mostly because of the Renesmee thing, but there are parts that I enjoyed a lot. Mostly Rosalie giving Jacob a hard time. I felt like I had more questions than answers at the end, so that was a little odd to feel, but it wasn't a bad book by any means.

The movie - I love the movie. I've had the ability to see many books turned into movies, so I've seen really great ones and really awful ones. I really believe the cast and crew did all they could to make Twilight as close to the book as possible with a limited budget and horrible weather conditions. I believe if you can watch the movie, keeping in mind that you can only turn so much of the written word into visual, there's no reason not to love it. Robert and Kristen did an amazing job, right along with Ashley and everyone else. I named those three in particular because I really felt like they nailed their characters completely.

2. Which team do you belong to- Team Edward or Jacob? Why?
I belong to Team Edward because no matter how badly he screwed up, it was always with the best of intentions for Bella. Jacob wanted what he couldn't have and his only motivation was to get what he wanted. With Edward, every word, every action was meant to better Bella's life in some way. True that he didn't always get it right, but he never stopped trying to make her happy and show her how much he loved her, especially in Breaking Dawn when he put up with that pregnancy.

3. When you start a story, do you have a written plan or just any idea of what you want to happen?
Usually, it's just a one paragraph idea, nothing concrete. I will sometimes make a very rough outline of what I might want to cover in a chapter, but I don't nail myself down at all. I find that if I get too detailed with my outline, I focus so much on forcing myself to follow it,that the story suffers.

4. In your opinion, what makes a story successful?
A successful story is one where the readers care about the characters, whether they love them or hate them. If you are evoking emotion just from someone reading the words on a screen or book page, then you are reaching out to people and truly sharing your characters with them. Once they care, they'll follow those characters wherever the story takes them.

5. Out of the stories you have written, which was the most fun to write? Why?
That's actually a hard one because I have fun with every story, but to pick just one, I would have to go with Life's Little Choices. When I started it, I had this idea in mind of a quick, short story where Emmett and Bella were siblings and I would get to have Emmett say all these great brotherly things, like my best friend did for me. I really didn't think many people would read it because at the time, All Human stories really weren't that popular on Fanfiction. And about ten chapters into it, the reviews started pouring in,raving about the story and asking for more. Getting to have that positive reaction and to know how much the readers loved the way I was writing the characters made it so much fun. And because they were humans doing human things, everyone found something to relate to, whether it was Bella's Twizzlers or Edward's "Tutor-boy" nickname.

6. Are you a multi-chapter or a one-shot author? Why?
I am definitely a multi-chapter writer, and it's because my brain never shuts off. I tend to write two stories at once, so I always have a scene playing out in my head, extending the story by one more chapter and one more chapter after that.

7. What do you think of the reaction of your readers on fanfiction?
I am lucky to have such amazing readers. They give me encouragement to continue writing, they honestly love the characters, and if I mess anything up, they let me know. They are the reason that I've grown as a writer and have become so much more confident with my writing.

8. Is writers block something that effects you? If it does, how do you deal with it?
Oh, God, yes! Writer's block is the worst! It's sort of like when you go to the dentist and they numb your mouth up, and then you try to talk, but it's all garbled. It usually happens to me when I'm spreading myself too thin between work and writing. I've the best way to deal with it is to completely walk away from the story, not just the chapter. I open up a clean word document and start up an entirely new story that has nothing to do with the one I'm working on. Life's Little Choices started because of writer's block on My First Year as a Cullen, and The Awakening was able to be done because of writer's block on Our Little Man. I've also been working on my own characters for a book I hope to get published one day, so they've gotten a lot of attention whenever I've been blocked on OLM.

9. Any tips?
You really have to love writing and to be disciplined to do it. You have to sit yourself down and make time every day to write, even if it's just a single paragraph. You have to train yourself to focus, blocking out everything, and just listen to the story your characters are telling. Never force your writing; if it isn't working out the way you want, try a completely different approach. If your outline isn't working, toss it out. If you're afraid to completely toss it, then make it broader. The biggest tip is to get a support system to help you find your most common mistakes and your weak areas. You'll never get better without that help.

10. What's your favourite fanfiction story?
I am a collector of stories the way another might be a collector of wines. All stories have different tones and flavors and I can never pick just one. My favorite angsty Edward is from "Stop, Drop, and Roll" by Bronzehairedgirl620,my favorite playful Edward is from "Curse of the Smiley" and its sequel "One Year in Heaven's Hell" by Hellopants, and my favorite Edward right out of Twilight is from "Blue Moon over Manka's" by Cullenista. Bella is a harder character for me to find a favorite with because everyone writes her so differently. Either she's too forceful to remind me of Twilight Bella, or she's too shy and clumsy to do it, so I only have two for this one. The Bella that I had hoped would be the version we saw in Breaking Dawn is from "PrimalDesires" by VelvetBloodRoses", and the Bella closest to the one in Twilight is from "Defining Moments,Trivial Moments,&Literary Giants" by Tara'sFolly.

Daddy's Little Cannibal

AThis is an author interview with Daddy's Little Cannibal. She is one of the great writers on ff so I really would recommend checking her out. :)

1. Let’s start with the fun, easy questions! What did you think of Breaking Dawn? The movie?
I don't know what to think of Breaking Dawn. I respect Stephenie for writing what she wanted, but it wasn't my favorite book. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I LOVE the movie. I was just so excited to see it that I didn't care how it turned out, as long as they kept it to the book. Besides, Robert Pattison is pretty darn cute. :)

2. Are you team Edward or team Jacob? Why?
Team Edward. I'm such a loser for guys that would give their life for someone they love, even though they want to kill that person. Edward is such a great guy, he was just minding his own business when this normal human girl sat next to him in biology and he was just like "wow, she smells really good" and then he found himself falling in love with her. I don't know, it's just something about Edward that makes me want to go "awe."

3. When writing a story do you make an outline first or just let the story write itself?
I used to write outlines, but then I realized that I never followed them-ever. So I stopped and just started to wing everything. There have been several stories that I had no idea what it was going to be about when I wrote the first chapter. Like Imagination Land, I had no idea what it was going to be about, I just wanted to write the line "I think she had an orgasm."

4. What do you think makes a story successful?
Heck if I know. I think half of it's luck, the other is talent. The sad thing is a lot of good stories don't get recognized. I don't know why. I read some really good stories and they had like one or two reviews and all I can think is "how does this not have more?"

5. Out of your stories posted online which was the most fun to write?
That's so hard to say. They all were fun because I love writing. I think if I absolutely have to choose, it would be The Pretty Corpses. It's a fun story because I have humor, angst, action, romance, and everything else that a good story needs. :)

6. Do you prefer writing one-shots or multi-chapter stories? Why?
Multi-chapter stories. I love to write one-shots, but it doesn't surprise me.I know what it's going to be about, I write and then it's gone. When I write multi-chapter stories, I get closer to the characters, I get comfortable with the plot, and I start to fall in love with the story.

7. What do you think about all of the love and support you have received on fanfiction?
I'm flabbergasted by it. Are you kidding me? I'm just like, "why do you like me? I'm not that good..." I love it though. I would never say anything bad about the people that support me on fanfiction. The people that hate me on the other hand... Just kidding! No, I love everyone on fanfiction. There have been times where I got my feelings hurt because someone was harsh or someone was mean, but I still love fanfiction and everyone on it. I appreciate all the love and support I get. It's something that I don't know how to express. I have no idea how to tell people how much I appreciate all the support they given me, whether it's a review or a private message, it's just amazing.Seriously, it's amazing.

8. Do you get writers block often? If so how do you deal with it?
Pst. I don't get writer's block. I know what to write, I just don't know how to write it sometimes. My stories get complicated and it's hard to figure out how to play it out because there's so much that needs to be said and I don't want to make it all filler chapters or all action chapters. So it's a matter of structure more than writer's block that stumps me. The best way to get over writer's block is to just write.

9. Do you have any tips for other authors on fanfiction?
Write what you want, not what other people want you to write. Suggestions are helpful, but in the end it's your story, your name is on it. I would rather read a story where the author came up with all the ideas of her own and it be,not bad, but not the greatest story than to read a perfect story where other people are writing it for her. I don't like when people try to write other people's stories, because I feel like if they want to read something then they should write themselves.

10. What is the best story you have read on fanfiction?
Okay, this is kind of bad, but I can't help it. My favorite story on fanfiction is a tie between "Vampiric Peaches" because it is the funniest story ever about vampire peaches and my story "Sleigh Rides." I know that sounds horrible, but seriously, I love that story. I go back and reread it. I never reread my stories after I post them. I love that story.

The other side of the pond...

I can almost guarantee that before the movie, in November for you guys and a rather cold December for us Brits, barely anyone had heard of Edward Cullen. Twilight would be hidden in bookshops, not on display in the front like it is now and guess what; after having moaned that no-one understood what I was on about for a year and a half, now everyone is talking about it but I hate it.

I was lucky enough to make it to the premiere in London so I got to see first hand how much it had grown in a year. There were hundreds of girls screaming and singing in a bloody freezing Leicester Square but the point I want to make is there were hundreds of us. Where the hell had they all come from???

Part of me was going, they aren’t true fans, jumping on the band wagon etc. whereas the other half was happy that there were other people out there like me!

I suppose my point of this is to highlight to everyone what a difference the movie actually made here (and most probs all over the world too). Now, ‘Alice Cullen woz here’ is written on the wall of the middle staircase in my school and I actually hear people talking about it. Robert Pattinson’s name is now on the lips of every single teenager, well majority of the female population actually and tbh, don’t we all love it.

The movie itself was buff. Yes I did just describe it like that but for good reason. It wasn’t fantastic, lets all please admit that, but it was fist in the mouthly good. The screening I went to on the day it came out was full of screaming girls, who all owwwwed and ahhhhed all the way through, much to the annoyance of the odd guy or two. Seeing the world we had all imagined on the big screen was amazing and if you loved it, you loved it but if you hated it, lower your expectations for the next one so you don’t get disappointed this time.

So our world is growing guys, expanding and reaching more and more people but do you like it??? Ask yourself that…

Breaking Dawn

Wow. Controversial much? It became quite the uproar in the Twilight community. We all were anticpating the book very much and held it to very high standards. Many people went the midnight release parties or bought it first thing the next day at Walmart. I couldn't reach any of my friends because they refused to do anything else until they had finished their books. Some people dropped everything and read it as quickly as possible while others read it over a couple of days trying to savor the last book.

Some people were highly impressed with it, while others were just confused, and many were just downright dissapointed. While I am one of the people are dissapointed I still respect the book and can see why some people liked the book. Let's start with Rosalie.

Some people loved the fact that Rosalie was finally warming up to Bella and being kind to her. Others were mad that she was using Bella to get the child she could never have. I personally think she was using Bella, but I'm not mad about it because Bella let it happen. Bella knew if she wanted to keep the baby she had to get Rosalie on her side, so that's exactly what she did. It wasn't as if Bella was fooled by Rosalie, she asked Rosalie to protect her child.

The next big issue was of course Bella being pregnant. This caused the most controversy out of everything. Some people loved the fact that they would indeed get a family, while others were saying that it wasn't right. Many people didn't like being convinced that there was no way Bella could get pregnant and then having it happen; it was almost like a slap to the face. Another problem that really bothered me was that it was much too sci-fi. I quite frankly got confused with all the talk about genetics. Also if we truly think about it Bella had just turned 19. I don't care if she is a vampire or not, she simply wasn't old enough.

Another problem (or highlight) was Jacob. Some people loved his point of veiw, while others thought it just complicated the story, unneccasarily. I actually loved his point of view because we needed to understand what was going on in the pack. We needed more insight into the werewolves. They really evolved in this book, if you ask me. Some people loved the fact that he imprinted on Nessie while others hated it. I personally think it is a little sick to be in love with someone and then start going after their daughter. I realize what S. Meyer was trying to do, but I think she should have brought in a new character.

Obviously another big point in the book was the Volturi. I still don't know if I like that whole thing or not. Many people were glad they didn't have a fight, while others were angry. Some felt that they spent too much time reading stuff that led up to this whole battle just to find out that there wasn't even going to be one. I think it just made the whole thing too clustered. I mean really a bunch of strangers came to their house and they were trying to teach Bella how to fight in a ridiculous amount of time.

The last actual point from the book that I would like to mention is Charlie. Some people loved that Bella would be able to stay close to Charlie, while others thought it was too perfect. I just think the whole thing is downright stupid. I mean they have been lying and sneaking around Charlie for three whole books, just for him to find out in the last one! Besides, a big thing in the book was that Bella was different because normal people wouldn't accept vampires and werewolves, but it seems to me like everyone is dealing with it just fine.

Despite all of that I still could have fallen in love with the book. It was the last one of the saga and it was all we were going to get before we were limited to fanfiction. I could have fallen in love with it even with all the stuff mentioned above. What made me not like the book was the lack of love between Edward and Bella. They spent first three books having the romance that everyone dreams of. They were the second coming of Romeo and Juliet. Nobody in a ten mile radius would doubt their love for eachother. Yet in the last book, it was hard to find that connection. Yes, they still love eachother, but it was more of the flimsy love you see in the real world. It wasn't the fairtale standard we were use to. They argued about this and thata and they didn't talk here or there and it kind of wrecked the whole purpose of the book. I had the impression that no matter how young they were or the obstacles they went through that there love would survive, but I sort of doubted that in the last book.

My rant is finally over! If you read all of that, be proud.

Twilight Quote: “Do you have a multiple personality disorder?” – Bella Swan, Twilight pg. 82
I chose this quote because most people would be devastated to have one, Edward should be happy. That would mean his blood lust was a diffrent person and there was a seperate Edward that was in love with Bella.

There's More??

Most people in the Twilight Fanfiction Family start out at fanfiction.net. Although it is the heart of fanfiction it is not the only thing out there. Many people start other very well put together sites and blogs, just like this one. Below I have listed some popular places that are very organized.

1. The Perv Pack's Smut Shack: http://www.pervpackssmutshack.com/?zx=9bd24f57724e5b6
I must tell you to enter with caution!! It's also on blogger and you have to consent before entering!

2. The Lazy, Yet Discerning Ficster: http://www.discerningficster.blogspot.com/?zx=5f8a529dec80c9de
Great imformation! They recommend a lot of good stories!

3. Twilighted: http://www.twilighted.net/
The largest! This is probably the most popular and most of you have at least heard of it! It is run by a group of great authors and readers!

Contests/Awards

Well I got a suprisingly large amount of feedback from my last post about awards. Many people weren't aware they were out there. Well I'll give you a little more info! The Twilight Awards are the largest and I believe are in round three of their awards! The Eddie and Bellies just finished, but they are thinking about doing it again! The TwiFi Awards are currently accepting nominations! The Lion and the Lamb Awards are going to stop accepting nominations tommorow!

Now let's move onto contests! There are many all around fanfiction.net some smaller than others. The first one that comes to mind is one that is still going on right now and ends on March 31st. It's the D/s Birthday Contest by DefinatelySpoilt. Go to their page to check out the info if you're intrested! That contest came about for a purpose. Someone wanted some good lemons for their birthday!

Some more that come to mind are ones that are already over, but were very popular on FF.net at the time. The first one is the Steamy Movie Crossover Contest by TheThreeSmutketeers and the second is the Sexy Edward Contest by Jayeliwood.

Contests appear around FF.net all the time, you just have to look for them. Although I will try to keep you posted about any contests I hear of!

Awards

Hello Everyone,

If you are deep into the Twilight fanfiction world then you know that there are many awards you and your story can win. It makes any author proud to be able to say they won this award or that award, no matter how small or big!

Some of the awards are:
1. The Twilight Awards: http://www.twilightawards.this-paradise.com/
2. The Eddie and Bellie Awards: http://www.thecatt.net/tw/About.aspx
3. The Twi-Fi Awards: http://www.my-smile-is-my-tears.webs.com/
4. The Lion and The Lamb Awards: http://lionandlambawards.webs.com/

Awards are different from contests. Contests are usually thrown together by one or two authors and are on fanfiction.net. However, awards are hosted on their own sites! Do not mistake the two!
